2004 Presidents Message
Hello! I hope youre all starting the year off well and bringing along extra gear and your snow shoes on all of these ridiculously cold inspections. Spring training for the Reds and Indians is right around the corner and winter will be over sooner than you think.
First, I would like to thank Roger Thornton, MAI (2003 President), our entire slate of Officers and Directors and Sally Lawton, our Executive Director, for all of their hard work this past year. Im looking forward to working with you and our Board during 2004. We have a great year planned and hope you will be able to get involved by attending our 2004 scheduled events.
A little about myself. Im president of the Dennis B. Pell Company and this year we are celebrating our 15th year in business. We have a small shop and I employ five people. I started my career in 1976 as a bank appraiser trainee in Cleveland, Ohio. Ive attended our group meetings in Columbus since 1978 and was Education Chair with the Old Ohio Chapter in 1987 and 1988. Ive served as MAI Associate Guidance Chair, Secretary, Vice President and now President with the Cardinal Ohio Chapter. My wife Pat is our office manager and helps me with all of our Appraisal Institute work and correspondence.
Chapter events for the year will include:
A new format for the quarterly meetings. We will be offering a 4 hour, accredited mini seminar, which will be held the same day as the quarterly Board and Candidate Meetings. Additional information concerning these seminars will be mailed to members and associates. These seminars are scheduled for May 13 and September 9, 2004. Our tentative format for these meetings will be:
8:30 a.m. 12:30 p.m. - Seminar
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Lunch
1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Board Meeting
One of our goals is to increase participation at our quarterly meetings so that we may better serve our memberships needs. It is important that our members and associates express their opinion and I welcome your comments or suggestions.
